Suggested prerequisites: Basic knowledge on: electrical engineering principles, mechanical transmission systems, internal combustion engines.
Aims: Providing skills and competences on design and optimization of hybrid and full electric vehicles, performances evaluation, onboard power, energy and traction management.
-Basics on electro-mobility: environmental impact and actual technology limitations, classification of BEV and HEV, principle of vehicle dynamics.
-BEV and HEV: powertrain structure, battery packaging, BMS (battery management system), charging systems, traction control, anti-skidding control, electric differential for double motor vehicles, high performances drives, ICE and electric motor coupling, electrical drives for micro, mild and plug-in hybrid powertrain, basics on CAN bus, power electronics principles, ECU (electronic control unit) for BEV and HEV.
-Project: electric kart and Formula E mini for motorsport (GSIDE project).
