How to certify the economic situation

Fees and funding
Italian student must go to a CAAF (Authorized Tax Assistance Centre) to obtain an ISEE/ISPE certificate.

EU students must go to a CAAF (Authorized Tax Assistance Centre) to obtain an ISEE/ISPE certificate only if they have incomes/assets/properties in Italy; otherwise, they can present an equivalent certification of their economic situation.

Non-EU students must obtain a certificate on their economic situation from the Italian competent diplomatic authority (usually the closest Italian Embassy/Consulate), before living their own country. In order to provide this certificate, the Italian diplomatic authority may require some appropriate documents issued by the country of origin. In most cases, it may be sufficient an affidavit, made by a notary public, declaring the number of family members, their gross income, their owned houses (specifying the area in square meters of each house), and the amount of their savings. This affidavit, translated in Italian by the competent diplomatic authority, is usually accepted by LAZIODISU as a proof of the economic situation.

Foreign students from the following countries, namely,

Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambogia, Central African Rep., Chad, Comoros, Congo (Repubblica Democratica), Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Etiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Kenya, Kiribati, Korea Dem. Rep., Kyrgyz Rep., Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambico, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe,

may alternatively provide a certificate, issued (in Italian language) by the Italian competent diplomatic authority (usually the closest Italian Embassy/Consulate), declaring that the student does not belong to a notoriously high-income, high-social status family (the document must state that “non appartiene ad una famiglia notoriamente di alto reddito e di elevato livello sociale”). This document is accepted by LAZIODISU as a proof of the economic situation and, usually, makes the student eligible for all types of benefits.
